Game Night!!

Wow I'm in p\Peru and the Jazz season starts tonight!! I've never missed an opening night game so this is a major change!. tough change! Hopefully I'll get use to it!! Thanks for the updates! So I loved the pictures today mom!! so cute!! All the kids had way cute halloween! I loved them!! and I loved your pumpkins too!! You guys did an amazing job!! I love you all!! So ya my last week in the mtc! The president is coming tuesday at 6:30am to pick us up from what I understand!! I'm excited to finally see some more of Peru and excited to know where my first area will be!!! I am so done with the mtc! It's so hard to focus right now! It's the same thing day in and day out! So it's just painful! I am excited to finally get to see real investigators and teach real people!! This last saturday we went to an area called Campoy! I think! It was a lot of walking up the side of a mountain to get to homes! We went contacting and not a lot of people were home or interested so it was a more tough day! but I gave out a lot of pamphlets and stuff like that! And placed a Book of Mormon on the cumbi! So that was good news! I finally got the package mom!! Thanks so much!! I loved it! You guys know me so well!! There is no such thing as fruit snacks in Peru so I was pumped! And to see a bag of watermelon pull and peel almost made me cry! Thanks again! and Thanks Angie for that tuffy tooth shirt and the fruit snacks and krabby patties!! I loved them!! That whole package is pretty much gone!! and I've had it maybe 5 days!! But thanks again!! So I guess a type of herpes is going around the mtc! So like you arent allowed to touch anything! It's freaking me out a little bit! I'm not a fan! I wash my hands probably over 50 times a day! I am not going to get the herp!! We think it was passed through a community apple that was passed around Sunday! One of the latinos pulled out an apple took a bite and passed it down the row during sacrament meeting and we think that is how it was spread! Ya totally didnt touch that thing! Let me tell you, you dont share apples!! But anyways I'm excited to leave this place! Sad but true! Not an mtc kind of guy! So how is the family doing? Is everyone healthy? I hope Caleb is doing better! I was sad to hear that and have been praying for him!! How are you feeling mom? I love you! Thanks for sending all the pictures!! Dad thanks for the email today!! Happy to see the Jazz making some noise in the power rankings!! Keep me updated on them and the election!! I love you all! next time I email you I could be in the jungle sleeping in trees, who knows!! I love you guys and am ready for this 2 year camp out! Go scouts! Hope all is well at home! I love you!

Another day Another Dollar

Hola,
Family Another day another dollar! Really not much new here in my life! just! Hope that you guys are doing well! I heard Elder Lewis is Back!! Tell him I love him and that I really admire him!! I want to hear how he is doing!! Next, really nothing new here! Just did another temple session this morning and I love going to the temple! Its a luxury to have one in my mission!! I am grateful for that! Next, we are going out again on saturday to another city to teach! I;m not sure the name of the city but I know it is in my mission!! I am way excited to have the opportunity again! I'll let you guys know when I find out where it is! I heard its a kind of sketchy area! But all is well! Peruvians are super nice so I'm not sure what could possible happen! So I heard from Rocio that you sent a package! I have not received that yet! I am not sure when to expect it either! So If you could call the lady and ask when she is delivering it and let me know that would be wonderful! I am excited to get it!! Next about the Spanish! It is coming along slowly but surely! I am doing my best and have seen an improvement in my lessons!! Its really hard to get over this language barrier! but I keep studying and working and I know that eventually it will all work out!! So really nothing new here! It's class on Monday and Tuesday! Wednesday is pday! Thursday and Friday we have class and Saturday we go out and teach!! So I feel like my life is constantly in replay!! Its weird! I want something different everyday! so I am hoping that changes when I get to the field! So the election is in less then 2 weeks!! Let me know the results! I was not able to vote.. I don't know why that didn't happen but ya.. 2016! I only have like 13 days left in the MTC! so ready to get out into the field! but nervous because I know my Spanish is still very limited!! I've got 13 days to get more down! Elder Cook, Elder Topham and I have picked up Parkour! Just basically running and jumping over things! It makes life here a little more interesting!! We go hard! No injuries!! I love you guys and hope that you are all doing well! Thanks for the emails this week! I love hearing how things are going at home!! I love you mom!! How is Angie doing? I hope she still comes over! Hope all is well with the family!! Hopefully next week I'll have something interesting to say! but for now I know that this church is true and I love you guys!!

Tour of Lima

Hello family!! how is everything at home? Wow its been a crazy week! ive come down with some major congestion and have a bad cough! i hope that it goes away soon! i hear it is from all the polution here! But anyways about this past week! life really is the same every week here at the mtc! But this last saturday we had a chance to go out and teach in Chosica! it was a beautiful town and had a huge jesus statue! it was a great experience! i was humbled as i knelt down to pray with a family on a floor where the was urine and poop everywhere! it was so humbling! i love the experience though! it was crazy i had to climb up to the very top of the mountain to reach this one house and it was a great experience! They had us split with a latino companion! and i had an amazing latino! He is such a powerful teacher and allowed me to help teach where i could! It was amazing! we even had the opportunity to give a blessing in spanish! nothing is harder than that!! We also we walking the streets placing book of mormons and i couldn't believe how accepting they were of the gospel message!! i am excited to get to the field!! Next, so today we got a tour of lima!! it was such a crazy experience! we went to this fransiscan monastery and measeum! it was crazy!! It was built in like the 1600s and they had all these catacombs!! So gross there was like 2500 bodies barried there so there were bones everywhere!! so weird! outside of this place it felt like marry poppins!! there were pigions everywhere! like so many! Next we went to like the main plaza in lima where like the president lives and the archbishop live! So like the whitehouse kind of!! That was way cool to see that! i got a picture with one of the guards! i hope i can find a way to send pictures home soon!! Then after we hit the town looking for soccer jerseys! ya im repping a Messi Jersey! FCB! i never thought id put on a soccer jersey! but ya its on and so comfortable!! Anyways thats about all thats been going down! There are like 40 missionaries here that have been throwing up and having bad diariaha! its crazy something in some food we ate wasnt good! i am glad i am not one of those missionaries!! How is everything at home! how are the Jazz doing in their preseason!! Make sure to send things through dear elder! my email time is so limited!! So dear elder is the best! if you send it by sunday i get it that thursday so not to bad!! I love you guys and hope all is going well!! Im working hard and praying the spanish will come quicker! its moving along but i need to know more before i get out into the field!! So ill work hard these next few weeks!! i love you all and hope you are having a good time at home!! I pray for you guys everyday! ps mom did you accept a friend request from someone in peru! she is like the secretary here and was going to send you a photo! So accept that! I love you all! My pdays are still wednesday it was just messed up this week because of the tour! so just fyi! talk to you soon!

Dear Family

Well pday is here and the computers are finally working on the day we are suppose to email. So I'm grateful for that! So a little about this past week. we enjoyed all sessions of general conference! I think it is the first time I have ever thoroughly watched every session! what a wonderful conference!!! I enjoyed every second of it! So nothing major has really happened since I emailed you back on friday! We did find out that on saturday this week that we get to go to a city called Chosica its like 3 hours from here! We go all day saturday and go tracting! How crazy is that! there is no way I can find my way around a city I have never been to and people that dont speak the language!! You are placed with a latino companion and let me tell you peruvians are hard to understand right now! The don't speak clearly at all so ya basically I'm way nervous but excited about the opportunity I have to bring the gospel message to those people! Its cool too because this area is in the Lima East mission!! So these are my people!! So ya that where I could be serving in the next two years!! So ya today we got to go to the temple again! It really stuns me that the latinos have ZERO sense of time! It means nothing to them! so I am really having to learn patience with each of them!! so after that we went down the street to a store called metro! it is like a market, walmart, and target mix! They even had their christmas decorations out!! It got me so excited for the holiday!! I am surprised at how advanced some of these areas are but at the same time I am stunned with the poverty! You see people sleeping in the streets all the time! There are so many people in Lima its a mad city! and I think they would be better off if people understood that the sidewalk and the street is not a bathroom! I honestly believe that could solve their problem! Its crazy here people will beg you for money all the time! It's super sad! There was a lady outside the temple begging for money and asking for the temple president because he is a dentist and she has some pain in her tooth! It was really sad!! So as for soccer her in the south americas! the peruvians are alright but the americans haven't lost a game in decades! I constantly remind them that we are back to back world war champions!! If they point and call you names youve got to dish it back somehow!! Anyways, General conference was great!! It was in English! I haven't heard much english at all since being here!! Its spanish all day every day!! But I really enjoyed some of the talks! I loved Elder Christoffersons talk about being men! What a wonderful talk in priesthood! Anyways my time here is limited! I love you all and hope you are all doing great!! I pray for everyone! I love you guys!!

EMAIL FINALLY!!

Ok so ya my pday is on wednesday just fyi, but the email server was down
until today so thats why there is an email today! so its brief but here is
what ill tell you! this place is so different. So on wednesday we got to go
out and see the city and go to the temple. It was a crazy experience
getting there. So you step out of this mtc prision and right outside you
try to catch a cambi. Something like that! so this cambi is like a mini bus
its the weirdest thing in the whole world! it should only fit like 25
people but they fit on like 50. So ya i was the last one to step on and
before i even got on fully the bus took off! It should really be like a
roller coaster ride. So ya we made it to the temple and enjoyed our time
there. Peruvians are never in any sort of rush it seems. Our endowment
session took like 3 hours and there were like 20 people there. Its so
different. Next we went accross the street to a LDS peru store! it was
sweet you can buy like peru scriputre cases and all that fun stuff. After
this we went to a market called tottus. Its just like right by the temple
and who knew itd be like a mini walmart! They had everything there except
Good american candy. They had a little bag of snicker candy bars for 23
soles so like 10 dollars. I could buy that at walmart for maybe 2.50! So ya
i guess im going to have to get use to this peruvian candy stuff!! But ya
that was basically our pday. It was weird getting out of this compound! we
really are locked up in here its sad. And ive maybe seen the sun 2 times
while ive been here. I wonder if i am even in the same world! Anyways other
than that there is not much going on here just a lot of spanish and getting
use to it! i didn}t expect it to be this hard but its been super tough! i
havent heard from anyone in my ten days here. Its hard i am not a huge fan
of that! im excited for general conference tomorrow! and hope to recieve
personal revelation and answers to my prayers. I am grateful that we have
modern day prophets who speak to us this day! its a wonderful blessing and
i hope you all watch each of the sessions! Hope all is going well at home!
I am excited to recieve some letters if that is even possible down here! My
mail got sent out tuesday down here so expect some soon! i love you all and
keep me posted on what life is like in the best country in the world! and
ill keep you updated on peru! Thanks for your support!!
love,
Elder Brockbank
