Well pday is here and the computers are finally working on the day
we are suppose to email. So I'm grateful for that! So a little about this
past week. we enjoyed all sessions of general conference! I think it is
the first time I have ever thoroughly watched every session! what a
wonderful conference!!! I enjoyed every second of it! So nothing major
has really happened since I emailed you back on friday! We did find out
that on saturday this week that we get to go to a city called Chosica
its like 3 hours from here! We go all day saturday and go tracting! How
crazy is that! there is no way I can find my way around a city I have
never been to and people that dont speak the language!! You are placed
with a latino companion and let me tell you peruvians are hard to
understand right now! The don't speak clearly at all so ya basically I'm
way nervous but excited about the opportunity I have to bring the gospel
message to those people! Its cool too because this area is in the Lima
East mission!! So these are my people!! So ya that where I could be
serving in the next two years!! So ya today we got to go to the temple
again! It really stuns me that the latinos have ZERO sense of time! It
means nothing to them! so I am really having to learn patience with each
of them!! so after that we went down the street to a store called
metro! it is like a market, walmart, and target mix! They even had their
christmas decorations out!! It got me so excited for the holiday!! I am
surprised at how advanced some of these areas are but at the same time I
am stunned with the poverty! You see people sleeping in the streets all
the time! There are so many people in Lima its a mad city! and I think
they would be better off if people understood that the sidewalk and the
street is not a bathroom! I honestly believe that could solve their
problem! Its crazy here people will beg you for money all the time! It's
super sad! There was a lady outside the temple begging for money and
asking for the temple president because he is a dentist and she has some
pain in her tooth! It was really sad!! So as for soccer her in the
south americas! the peruvians are alright but the americans haven't lost
a game in decades! I constantly remind them that we are back to back
world war champions!! If they point and call you names youve got to dish
it back somehow!! Anyways, General conference was great!! It was in English! I haven't heard much english at all since being here!! Its
spanish all day every day!! But I really enjoyed some of the talks! I
loved Elder Christoffersons talk about being men! What a wonderful talk
in priesthood! Anyways my time here is limited! I love you all and hope
you are all doing great!! I pray for everyone! I love you guys!!
Love,
Elder Brockbank
